Moving On

Yes, this is a formal and infamously known type of "I'm leaving" journal.

I've decided that as much as I used to enjoy dA, I'm not getting any kind of use out of it, and I feel like my presence here is so small that I could be a little dust particle on my laptop screen. This decision has actually sprung from another decision.

Let me just specify:
1) I think I'm done with artist alley at anime cons. The more I attend these conventions as an artist, the less fun it becomes. I no longer do artwork that I enjoy. It feels as if I'm forced to do what other people want to see. That isn't, at least to me, fun. So next year I will not be selling at any tables. In fact, this year may have been my last time selling in artist alley at all. So what exactly does this mean to people that have followed my work? Well, you can find it somewhere on the internet I'm sure. But it probably won't be anime illustrations anymore. I will also be working full time on webcomics that I have always wanted to do.

And for the commissions that I have left, do not worry, I am working on them, but slowly inbetween my class work which is loaded full time. I practically have work to do every single day. So please forgive me for my slowness, I'm really trying to squeeze in some time.

2) dA is just ... not appealing to me anymore. I really have enjoyed all of the amazing artists on this website, but I feel it's become oversaturated. I don't find things that appeal to me much anymore. There's tons of talent, but I just don't feel like having to search for it. I want my sources to be upfront, not covered by mind-numbing mediocre work I stumble upon everyday(I sound snobbish, but I'm really not ... I just ask "what's the reason behind this?" more often). I hope artists start to put more dedication, appreciation and hard work into their pieces, and not strive to be a popular artist for mediocre work.

3) While this is sort of an additional reason, I'm also a design student right now. I will be graduating next year and moving on to finding a career in my field. I will not have any drive to be here. In fact, it's not helping me any to even be on this website.

So I'm going to be slowly removing most of my artwork and permanently leave this website. I'm actually thinking about moving onto flickr, tumblr and if there's anywhere else, there. These places seem to fit more my tastes. When I get around to getting them, I might leave some links here.

And to my friends on dA, don't worry, I will be keeping in touch with you through other means. :)

So farewell dA, you have been very kind to me and I appreciate the space you allowed for my artwork. Take care and I hope dA evolves to a place where every piece of work has more than potential.

Hi! I remember you! I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner, I actually started school again a couple of weeks ago, so I haven't made time to come and reply/send messages. I'll make so to remind myself to come back and check out your gallery when I have time! ^^

Vacuum cleaners have teeth, in case you didn't know. I lost both of my hands to one trying to battle it. I guess carpet's not my terrain. I need to level up more.
